1.  What time do courses start?

The morning course commences at 10.00am and runs until 12.30pm.  The afternoon follows from 1.30pm through until 4.00pm. A specific itinary will be provided when you have booked.

2. Do I need to be a good swimmer?

No, but the being a better swimmer will aid confidence in the water.  All training takes place in waist deep water.  We are experienced at coaching people with varying levels of fitness.  Everyone takes the training at their own pace, and this can be accommodated for during the session. The fittr you are the more quickly you will learn to surf.

3.  Do I need to book or can I just turn up?

Each course has a limited number of spaces available due to the requirements of student to instructor ratio.  As a result it is essential that you book if you wish to guarantee an allocated place on a course.

4.  Is there a minimum age?

The youngest age for a group lesson is 8 years old.

5. Will it be cold?

No, the wetsuits that we use will keep you warm during the training session.  Modern wetsuit technology has allowed the suits to become ever more flexible without sacrificing the need to retain heat for the user.

6.  Do you have a wetsuit that will fit me?

Yes, we have wetsuits to fit all sizes and ages.

7.  Can I wear glasses or contact lenses?

Yes, however, glasses are easily lost, so it maybe better for you to wear prescription swimming goggles.  If soft lenses are worn it is recommended that a spare set are carried as these too can be easily lost.

8.  When is the best time to learn to surf?

We operate from May until October.  The summer months provide surf that is more predictable and consistent, the weather and water are warmer and more facilities are available locally.

9.  What happens if it is raining or the surf is too rough?

The one thing you can guarantee about surfing is that you will get wet.  If the sea is too rough you will be informed in advance that the days training will be relocated to a beach where the surf is better suited to learning.  The advantage of the Gower peninsula is that it consists of a number of safe beaches that provide sheltered conditions if stormy conditions exist.

10. What happens if there is no surf?

Llangennith beach faces directly towards the Atlantic Ocean, and as a result receives swell almost all year round.  It is rare to have no surf at all.  The smaller days are in fact ideally suited to learning as the conditions are favourable for accelerated learning and enjoyment.  If the conditions are such that surfing is not available you will be credited with a lesson time convenient to yourself.

11.  Are there group discounts?

Yes, if a group of 12 or more book for a specific event a discount of 10% is afforded to the group.  The booking must be made in one transaction, and will not apply to 12 individual booking in one group.  If a booking of more than 12 is made, then a larger negotiable discount can be achieved.

12.  How long are the sessions?

Each session is aimed to achieve two hours of instruction/water time.  As little time as possible is spent with matters that are not learning to surf, the priority is getting in the water and catching waves.

13.  What day of the week do midweek courses commence?

Midweek courses/lessons are flexible and can be arranged at the needs of the customer.  It is anticipated that the school will run everyday of the week during the Peak period of July and August.

14.  Can you provide courses for Corporate Events, Birthdays, Stag & Hen Parties?

Yes, tailor made events are always available.  Numbers are normally limited to 20 due to the student/instructor ratio.  However, larger numbers can be accommodated if sufficient time is allowed prior to the event
